Teaching & Preaching

Teaching and preaching have been integral parts of my ministry for over twenty-five years. I teach short term classes on a regular basis in my ministry settings; you can find upcoming classes on this page. I can also come to churches, schools, or other ministry settings to teach one day or multi-session classes on subjects such as the following:

  • Spiritual formation & spiritual disciplines for all age groups. I have taught parenting classes on faith formation. I have taught many classes on prayer, Sabbath, spiritual leadership, and living in rhythm to the Christian year.

  • I do classes on grief and gratitude.

  • I lead "Relate Strong" for individuals, couples, and staffs. I hold a certificate as a Relate Strong facilitator, a program of The Boone Center for the Family at Pepperdine University. I found Relate Strong to be a game changer for me personally and I highly recommend it. The program helps people to break cycles of pain and move to cycles of peace   (https://boonecenter.pepperdine.edu/relatestrong/).

  • I do a wide array of classes on plants, gardens, and theology, weaving together my training in spiritual direction and horticultural therapy. I can do both practical application as well as theologically reflective classes for churches, schools, and non-profits in all things related to soul and soil.

Plants & the Calming of Our Souls
Next Dates TBD

If you have been experiencing stress, angst, worry, or anxiety, you are invited to come and play with plants. According to Thrive, a gardening organization in England, "Studies show that all plants provide mental health benefits. Constantly seeing and being around plants helps us feel more calm and relaxed, thus decreasing levels of anxiety. Nurturing and caring for our plants can also reduce stress levels and boost our mood." This spring, as people gather in the garden, Pastor Chamie will weave together the facts about each plant with stories of faith. Each participant will work directly with the plants, such as transplanting or making arrangements. Every week, participants will take home the featured plant or flowers. Cost of the class is $60 and includes all the planting materials.
